I've been wondering this. But let's say everything you've known up till now was a lie. Would you want to know that for sure? Would you want to know something that could destroy the foundations put down before you very eyes? It's a curious thing to think about, and I've pondered much about it. What do you guys think. Would you want to know if your religion was a complete lie or would you rather live happily knowing what makes you feel okay with everything in the world? I'm not so sure myself, I'd want to know the truth, but I don't know if I'd want to completely destroy everything I've counted and believed in... It's rather difficult. What's your opinion? o3o

the question is what is happiness.
real true happiness. would a person prefer living life blissfully as a lie, or be told the truth and have their reality shattered? ignorance can be bliss depending on the situation, but that doesn't deny the actuality of what is true. some people prefer to live life this way, others don't. i think this varies between people and their own choices. |

Yeah, but what about people shattering realities of others. Is that really fair even if the person is doing it out of love or for whatever reason. I'm not sure if I'd want to... I wouldn't be able to decide between selfishly crushing dreams and happiness just to see if I can get my own.

For some people, ignorance is needed for stability. For instance, if God-fearing people were presented with evidence that there was without a doubt no God, I don't think many of them could handle it. When you based that much of yourself on a single principle it's better not to have that reality, even a false reality, shattered. It can really destroy a person.
It's really hard to say what I'd want, when it comes down to disturbing truths. I hate to be lied to, but white lies versus a vicious truth makes you really wonder. I think, most cases, I'd like the white lies when it's a 'small' personal issue and there is nothing I can do to fix it. Big issues like God and government and all that lovely mess of sheet, that I'd rather know the truth. |
